Golden Boy starlet Aaron McKenna secures second fight date

Monaghan welterweight Aaron McKenna [1(0)-0] will return to the ring in America next month as his exciting pro career continues at a good pace.

The 18-year-old, Ireland’s current youngest pro, is signed to Golden Boy Promotions and Sheer Sports Management and is based out of Los Angeles under trainer Courage Tshabalala.

McKenna will fight for the second time on Friday March 9th at The Hangar in Costa Mesa, LA. ‘The Silencer’ boxes in a featured bout on the Azat Hovhannisyan v Ronny Rios undercard which will be shown live as part of the Golden Boy on ESPN series.

Also confirmed for the West Coast bill are Alexis Rocha, Marin Cabrere, and Joseph Aguirre.

The Ulster teen’s opponent for this card will be confirmed in the near future.

After seeing his initial debut date on the Miguel Cotto v Sadam Ali card in New York last December cancelled at short notice, McKenna debuted at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas on the Orlando Salido v Miguel Roman undercard the following week. Here he outpointed the game Travis Conley over four entertaining rounds.

McKenna is currently deep in camp in LA where he has been joined by his brother Stevie, who is preparing for this month’s National Elite Senior Championships in Dublin.
