Gary Murray remains hospitalised following Paddy Gallagher fight

Scottish fighter Gary Murray [12(0)-1(1)] remains hospitalised following his loss to Belfast’s Paddy Gallagher on Friday night.

Gallagher [12(8)-3(0)] was defending his BBBoC Celtic welterweight title versus the Glaswegian at the Meadowbank Sports Centre in Edinburgh and scored a tenth round knockout.

Following a sustained assault from Gallagher, the immensely tough Murray went down midway through the final round, banging his head on the canvas.

Murray was brought to hospital following the fight and is said to currently be in a stable condition.

Mack The Knife Global, who manage both fighters, released a statement today describing how “Gary was taken to hospital following his 10-round contest on Friday night.”

“The doctors discovered an injury which required immediate attention.”

“Gary remains in hospital with his family. He is in a stable condition and we shall provide further updates when we can.”

“We ask that everyone keeps Gary in their thoughts at this time. Our thoughts are with Gary and his family.”

Gallagher himself said that “after a very competitive and very entertaining fight on Friday night my opponent Gary Murray was took to hospital where he has been kept in and is currently in a stable condition.”

“I have spoke with Gary’s family and team. From my own team, my family and myself we wish the best for Gary in his full recovery.”
