Tyson Fury calls for Windsor Park test
Tyson Fury [26(20)-0] wants to taste blood when he fights in Ireland for the fifth time on August 18th.
The former unified heavyweight world champion, who continues his comeback on Carl Frampton’s Windsor Park undercard, isn’t looking to take another opponent apart but is hoping for a foe that will have the ability to land heavy at various times throughout his second fight since he returned from his two-and-a-half sabbatical.
The giant fighter, whose parents hail from Antrim and Galway, fought for the first time since he beat Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 in Manchester on June 9th.
Sefer Seferi brought more in the way of ridicule than resistance and was dealt with easily by the 6’9″ heavyweight.
‘The Gypsy King’ is hoping for a tougher test on a BT Sport-broadcast card that also plays host to a world title fight for Paddy Barnes.
“This is my fourth time boxing in Belfast. I boxed in the Odyssey twice and the Kings Hall and I am looking to put on a show,” Fury told the press in Belfast before discussing former cruiserweight Seferi.
“They are all heavyweights no matter how big or small they are. They all take take beating. Seferi was 23-1 as soon as I clipped him on the head a couple of times, which was disappointing for me to say the least. I trained for six months. I hoped it would take a bit longer and was better fight, but it is what it is. I came through unscathed, I am still as good looking as ever and roll on Belfast, let’s go.”
“I hope this time I get someone that will come and have a fight with me, punches me in the face a couple of times, gives me a busted nose, and a busted mouth.”
“If he [Seferi] was picked to make me look good he didn’t do a good job. It was like cat and mouse for the whole fight. It was nearly three year out of the ring, it was a sell out venue, so there was there a bit of pressure on me,” he continued before playfully calling out Paddy Barnes.
“If Paddy Barnes wins I want him next, WBC baby.”
Fury is still expected to face an opponent far below world level as he continues the long process of losing weight and regaining sharpness.
The name of top Irish heavyweight Niall Kennedy was mentioned by some but the rising Wexford fighter has dismissed this possibility.

Other names which have been mentioned include Shannon Briggs, David Price, Alexander Dimitrenko, and Alexander Ustinov.
Promoter of the anticipated Windsor fight night, Frank Warren, claims he is determined to grant the heavyweight world title hopeful’s test wish.
“[This year] is about keeping him busy. He has dipped his toe in the water we are going to sumberge him next time with a different type of opponent. I want to see someone who is going to make him focused and get the best out of him.”
