It was the most hyped debut in the history of Irish boxing. Mick Conlan topped a bill at the Mecca of Boxing, Madison Square Garden, over six rounds and on St Patrick’s Day.
Buffer was present with his catchphrase in tow, a raucous green-clad crowd waiting expectantly as Top Rank pulled out all the stops for a man they have so much faith in.
It was a lot of pressure for a first paid bout, but the Belfast man didn’t disappoint and registered a third round stoppage of Tim Ibarra much to the delight of his fans, and getting what looks to be a very memorable journey off to the perfect start.
