Frampton, McGuigan, Booth, and Buglioni all up for awards

Belfast’s IBF super bantamweight champion Carl Frampton will be suiting up for the annual British Boxing Board of Control Awards which take place this Friday (September 25th) at the Novotel in Hammersmith, London.

‘The Jackal’ is nominated for British Fighter of the Year after a successful 2015 where he defended his title for the first time in February against Chris Avalos, before making his U.S debut in July against Alejandro Gonzalez Jr.

Also nominated for the award are:
Amir Khan
James DeGale (IBF super middleweight champion)
Jamie McDonnell
Kell Brook (IBF welterweight champion)
Lee Selby (IBF featherweight champion)
Scott Quigg

Frampton’s trainer, Shane McGuigan, is also up for an award at the glitzy event. The 26 year old is up for British Trainer of the Year alongside Adam Booth, the trainer of WBO middleweight champion, and Limerick legend, Andy Lee. Also nominated are Tony Sims, Tony Borg, Joe Gallagher, Dominic Ingle, David Coldwell, and Jim McDonnell.

Finally, honourary Irishman Frank Buglioni has been nominated for Fight of The Year for his drawn scrap with Lee Markham. Alsonominated in this category are Billy Joe Saunders-Chris Eubank Jr, Derry Mathews-Tony Luis, Jorge Linares-Kevin Mitchell, and Dave Ryan-John Wayne Hibbert.
