Frampton: I will chase Rigondeaux when I beat Cruz

CARL Frampton only has eyes for Leo Santa Cruz and his WBC world title at present, but will welcome Gulliermo Rigondeaux’s advances once he beats the Golden Boy fighter.

Directly after The Jackal moved grabbed WBC mandatory status via an impressive knock out win over Hugo Cazares, the Cuban’s manager Gary Hyde took to social media to offer the Belfast star a shot at the WBA world champion.

Undefeated Frampton has constantly said he believes former Willie Casey destroyer Rigondeaux is the best at the weight in the World, but did state he will look for a fight with  a puncher billed as ‘the greatest amatuer of all time’ once he has dispossessed Cruz of the famous WBC title.

“I see him as the best in the World at super bantamweight and if I beat Santa Cruz then he is the one I will chase,” Frampton said.

McGuigan put a business perspective on the same subject and claimed after HBO dropped the talented World champion it makes a lot more sense to fight Cruz.

Speaking about Cork man Hyde’s offer the Irish boxing legend said,

“It is not a matter of us not getting Santa Cruz, we will get that fight. That is the fight that makes the money too. HBO have dropped him (Rigondeaux). He can talk about coming over here, but he doesn’t bring TV. We want big fights and to expose Carl to a wider audience too.”
