Frampton flies to France to cheer on the Green And White Army

Belfast’s Carl Frampton has taken a day out of his preparations for the Leo Santa Cruz fight to travel to France to support his beloved Northern Irish football team at the European Championships.

A massive football fan, with Crusaders being his club, ‘The Jackal’ is a regular at Windsor Park and was somewhat disappointed that his Summer showdown with Santa Cruz clashes with the tournament.

However, the Tiger’s Bay star, for whom Sunday is a rest day from training, has flown out to France to soak up the atmosphere and cheer on the team.

Such is Frampton’s football mania, he had Northern Irish striker Kyle Lafferty carry his IBF belt into the ring for his super bantamweight unification fight with Scott Quigg in February – and started a chorus of ‘Everywhere we go [it’s the Ulster Boys]’ in his post-fight interview.

The Green And White Army face Poland this evening (kick-off 5:00pm) in Nice in their opening Group C game.

It is Northern Ireland’s first appearance at a major tournament in 30 years and they enter on the back of a thirteen game unbeaten streak.
