Four Irish fighters receive new fight dates

A number of Irish fighters have secured fight dates for the new season.

There are a number of shows on the island in September and October as a strong 2017 for Irish boxing continues.

Saturday September 16th at the Devenish Complex in Belfast sees the second Ginley Promotions bill.

Possibly one of the strongest small hall cards ever seen in modern Irish boxing, there have been a further three fighters added since the last update.

Joining Tyrone McKenna, Tyrone McCullagh, Davey Oliver Joyce, Stevie Collins and Gary Cully on the bill will be Newtownabbey light heavyweight Steven Ward [4(1)-0], Shankill featherweight Marco McCullough [17(10)-4(3)], and light welter Anto Upton [14(5)-1(0)]

Commonwealth silver medalist Ward will be back in the ring following his fight date on the cancelled Frampton-Gutierrez card fell through.

McCullough will be back in the ring for the first time since his brave British title loss to Ryan Walsh back in May.

Upton headlined the inaugural Ginley Promotions bill in March, and has since switched trainers from Barry Smith in London to Ray Ginley at the Immanuel Boxing Academy in Belfast.

Finally then on Saturday October 7th, back in the National Stadium, Allan Phelan [8(5)-3(1)] makes his return on the next Red Corner Promotions card.

The Kildare featherweight will be looking to bounce back following his shock loss to Jamie Quinn at the same venue back in June. Phelan is the second fighter confirmed for the bill following Dublin welterweight debutant Karl Kelly.
