First Title Fight Confirmed for Lewis Crocker

Hot prospect Lewis Crocker [7(6)-0] will skip ahead to title level in his next fight.

It has been announced this afternoon that the Belfast welterweight will box for the vacant BBBoC Celtic title on the card at the Titanic Exhibition Centre on Friday December 7th.

21-year-old Crocker will face Scot Martin Harkin [8(2)-0] over ten rounds for the belt in what will be one of the main fights on the web-streamed card.

In Harkin, the Sandy Row slugger takes a big step up.

The 26-year-old Dumbarton boxer turned pro at the end of 2016 and has gone eight unbeaten since then. Career highlights for the Scot include a second round stoppage win over countryman Craig Kelly and a six-round win over Cameroonian dangerman Serge Ambomo. Last time out, last month, Harkin forced Chris Jenkinson into a second-round retirement.

Since debuting last year, Crocker has cut through all of his opponents, scoring notable early stoppages over Ferenc Jarko, Radoslav Mitev, and Adam Grabiec. Last time out, in what was his TV debut on the big Windsor Park card in August, Crocker dominated ultradurable Englishman Willie Warburton over six.

Crocker and his team have elected against building slowly and will skip the eight-round stage and go straight into title level.

The Celtic belt, which has been vacated by Crocker’s former gym-mate and current managerial stablemate and sparring partner Paddy Gallagher, encompasses Wales, Scotland, and Ireland and a win next month will but ‘The Croc’ in line for a shot at the British belt recently won by Johnny Garton.

The card next month is headlined by a clash between Conrad Cummings and Brian Rose and also features appearances from Sean McComb, Gary Cully, Paddy Gallagher, Steve Collins Jr, Tyrone McCullagh, Padraig McCrory, and Phil Sutcliffe.
