Final fighter announced for Ireland’s Last Man Standing

The Ireland’s Last Man Standing line-up has been completed.

Eight fighters will duke it out on Saturday March 3rd in the inaugural 3x3x3 middleweight tournament at the National Stadium.

Three of the initially-announced eight dropped out last month, with Gerard Healy and Nick Quigley being announced as replacements.

Finally, this evening, the line-up was provisionally completed with the addition of Jordan Latimer [1(0)-0].

The Sligo-Mancunian enters the mix and will be the youngest competitor having just turned 20 in November.

Latimer spent his teenage years in Sligo, home of his grandparents, boxing out of Ballinacarrow BC under Block Reynolds, before moving back to Manchester.

He subsequently linked up with coach John Murray and debuted last February, outpointing Duane Green over four rounds in Manchester. Niggling injuries would keep the rangey southpaw out of the ring afterwards.

Alongside fellow replacements Quigley and Healy, Latimer is joined in the Last Man Standing competition by Chris Blaney, Bernard Roe, Sean McGlinchey, Alfredo Meli, and Roy Sheahan.

The eight will be fighting for their share of a €59,000 prize fund, with €25,000 going to the winner alongside €5,000 for their amateur club

The undercard for the night features a vacant Irish light middleweight title fight between Craig O’Brien and Jay Byrne, and was today boosted by the announcement of Mullingar middleweight JJ McDonagh [15(8)-3(1)] – a potential Irish title opponent for the winner of the eight-man tournament.

Also set to feature on a bumper undercard are Allan Phelan, Victor Rabei, Paddy McDonagh, Vladimir Belujsky, Dylan McDonagh, and debutant Cillian Reardon.
