Fear won’t be a factor warns the fighter looking to dethrone Katie Taylor

Jessica McCaskill [5(3)-1(0)] claims the key difference to her and all of Katie Taylor’s previous opponents is the fact she has no fear for the Olympic gold medal winner.

The American will provide the opposition for the Irish amateur legend’s first WBA World title defence which headlines a Sky Sports bill at the York Hall next week.

McCaskill has warned the Bray star that she faces a new proposition as the pair become the first women to top a Sky Sports fight card, telling Taylor that, unlike all her previous foes, she won’t be going into the ring scared.

Having watched limited footage of the Matchroom fighter’s previous pro bouts McCaskill believes that fear was a major factor in all Taylor’s wins. That respect and indeed fear the seven that have gone before her brought with them to their respective fights cost them claims the challenger.

McCaskill promises she won’t be gun shy and is ready to open fire from the off.

“I’ve never watched a full fight of hers,” stated McCaskill.

“I’ve seen some highlights. I see mistakes she makes, but it’s not so much what I see in her. It’s what I see in all her opponents. They’ve all been scared of her. I am not. You won’t see any fear in me. Everybody else was terrified to engage her. They just showed up. I’ll be fighting to the last bell.”

McCaskill and her coach Rick Ramos essentially talked themselves into the big fight on Wednesday December 13th but the World champion was on their radar for sometime.

The fighter who was recently installed as #2 in the 135lbs division with the WBA claims she has been working toward Taylor for a ‘long time’ and claims she has gone to new levels for this camp.

“I’m relieved. I’ve been working toward this fight for a long time. We have been training for this fight since my last fight because we knew it was coming and we’ve definitely bumped up the intensity.”
