Kieran Farrell adds second Commonwealth Games medalist to debut Belfast bill

Kieran Farrell has made a high-quality addition to his debut Belfast promotion next month.

The young Manchester promoter enters the Irish scene on Saturday April 22nd at the the Devenish Complex and has added a second Commonwealth Games medalist to the ‘A New Era’ bill.

Divis lightweight Joe Fitzpatrick [7(4)-0] has become the eighth fighter added to the bill. The 2014 Commonwealth Games silver medalist is managed by Mark Dunlop and promoted by Frank Warren, and the move marks the start of a relationship between Farrell and Dunlop.

The former Breen Team fighter told Irish-Boxing.com that “I’ll be working with Mark from now and in the future to ensure we can get our lads out on shows regularly to bring them on and hopefully make a few champions.”

First up for ‘The Dragon’ Fitzpatrick however is a slot on the big Belfast BoxNation show next Friday at the Waterfront Hall.

Headlining the night is an eight-round fight between Tyrone’s Feargal McCrory and Liverpudlian Jay Carney – who last week upset home fighter Carl Chadwick on a Matchroom card.

Chief support will be debutant Sean McGlinchey, bronze medalist at the Commonwealths and now trained by former world champion Glenn McCrory.

There is also an exciting looking match-up between Gerard Healy and Tommy ‘Irish’ Carter, as well as a big fight for Dan McShane which will be announced tomorrow.

Filling out the card are Joe Hillerby, Mathew Fitzsimons, and debutant Sean Magee.
