Fagan: I seen the fear in eyes, I have the edge

OISIN Fagan has already seen the fear in Chris Goodwin’s eyes and believes he has already won the mind games ahead of their WBF International lightweight title fight tonight.

The Dubliner weighed in against the English fighter last year and claim he could see when they went head to head Goodwin didn’t want to trade leather with a man 16 years his senior.

Indeed, so afraid was 25 year old that he went away and ensured he failed to make the weight claims, Fagan.

“Well, I think I hold a psychological advantage over him, because when we did the ā€˜stare-downā€™ last year, I could see he didnā€™t want to fight. I gave him until the next day to make the weight when he came in 4lbs heavy, but he came in nearly a stone overweight the following day, so I knew he didnā€™t want to fight me.

While Fagan claims to hold the physiological advantage over his foe, he does worry about Goodwin’s home advantage ahead of the Chester based bout.

The former Irish and Oklahoma state champion has suffered home town decision previously and against fighters who would go on to win World titles.

“The only thing I worry about is going into his backyard to fight. In the past, Iā€™ve been there and done that; in fact, itā€™s happened to me a few times before- Split Decisions with former world champ, Paul Spadafora and a Split with USBA champion, Verquan Kimbrough, both on their promoted cards.

“Furthermore, when I fought Chavez Jr, most people thought I won that too- and even though that was in Vegas (not in his hometown), it was on the undercard of an Eric Morales fight so there was 16,000 Mexicans cheering him on.

“so it might as well have been at ā€œhomeā€ for him, to be honest- the judges certainly didnā€™t disappoint him.”
