Exclusive: McCullough wants Munroe

Wayne McCullough has exclusively revealed to irish-boxing.com that he is willing to fight Rendall Munroe anytime, anywhere.

European super-bantamweight titlist Munroe revealed last week that he would be interested in a bout with McCullough as he believes that a victory over the 1992 Olympic silver medallist would boost his hopes of a world title shot.

McCullough, of course, still harbours his own hopes of world title glory. The Pocket Rocket was planning to remind everyone of his class in last Novembers proposed bout with Kiko Martinez but the fight fell through after the Spaniard failed to make the weight in controversial circumstances.

Ever since then, McCullough has been angling for a shot at Munroe, the man who dethroned Martinez as European champion in March of this year, and is encouraged by the noises now being made the Leicester native.

I texted Frank Maloney about fighting Munroe after the Martinez and he never came back to me. At that stage, the fight was dead in the water, McCullough told irish-boxing.com.

I tried to get on the Ricky Hatton undercard for this weekend but I was told that there was no room on the card.

Now, Munroe is calling me out in the press. I havent had any contact with them or heard anything about it but Id be more than happy to fight him. Ill fight him anywhere be that in England, Ireland or the States.

Im ready, willing and able. Ive been training away for the past few months. Ive sparred twice a week for the past two weeks, so Im sharp and ready to fight.
