Eddie Hearn reveals date for Katie Taylor Homecoming card

At last.

Katie Taylor [8(4)-0] has a provisional date for her big Irish homecoming fight.

The Wicklow lightweight stormed to the WBA lightweight title in seven fights, and defended it just last month – however has yet to box in her native country with bouts instead taking place in England, Wales, and America.

It looks though now that Taylor will finally fight back in Ireland on Saturday April 14th.

The Bray 31 year old’s promoter, Matchroom Boxing boss Eddie Hearn, confirmed the date today.

Outlining his general plans for his stable, Hearn told IFL TV that “on 14 April we’re in Dublin. We’re just finalising that. It looks like the return of Katie Taylor.”

No venue or opponent was mentioned by Hearn.

While the RDS has been rumoured as a potential left-field choice, the card looks likely to take place at the 3Arena – while a unification with IBF champion Victoria Noelia Bustos [18(0)-4(0)] of Argentina is Taylor’s team’s preferred fight.

The card will be the arena card to take place in Dublin since Matthew Macklin’s loss to Jorge Sebastian Heiland back in November 2014.

The fight night takes place just one week before Carl Frampton’s April 21st featherweight clash with Nonito Donaire in Belfast at the SSE Odyssey Arena, and becomes the seventh show confirmed for Ireland this year so far.
