Durable opponent confirmed for Belfast sensation Joe Fitzpatrick

20 year old Belfast lightweight sensation Joe Fitzpatrick will face another durable foe this weekend on the ‘Champions at the Europa’ show. ‘The Dragon’ will face Hungary’s Peter Mellar [4(3)-17(3)-2] over four rounds on the Mark Dunlop-promoted dinner show at the swanky hotel.

Southpaw Fitzpatrick [2(2)-0], a 2014 Commonwealth Games silver medalist, will look to make it three stoppage wins out of three when he opens the show on Saturday.

The Divis youngster sent out a statement in August when he stopped the highly-durable Zoltan Horvath at the Féila an Phobail and will hope to continue in this vein at the weekend.

‘Champions at the Europa’ is headlined by lightweight Paul Hyland Jr., with additional support provided by super featherweights James Fryers and James Tennyson
