Another Irish fighter has entered the paid ranks as the 2017 mass expansion of the Irish scene continues.

The latest boxer to turn professional is Dubliner Niall O’Connor, and the light welter has linked up with veteran trainer, manager, and promoter Tony Davitt.

An amateur with Monkstown, O’Connor competed in the 2014 and 2016 Intermediates, as well as being a part of a panel that fought on the last ever card at the old Gleason’s Gym in New York.

25 year old O’Connor will debut on Saturday September 9th as part of the ‘Celtic Clash 3’ bill at the National Stadium in Dublin.

Over thirty Irish fighters have debuted or stated their intention to turn pro this year, and plenty more moves are said to be in the works.
