DISASTER – Anto Cacace’s British title fight at Féile is OFF

Anto Cacace [17(7)-1(0)] continues to have horrible luck.

Irish-Boxing.com can sadly report that the Belfast super featherweight has seen his British title challenge postponed.

‘The Apache’ was due to challenge champion Sam Bowen at the Falls Park in Belfast on Saturday August 3rd, live on BT Sport and ESPN+, but this fight is OFF after the English fighter has pulled out with sciatica.

Bowen’s back issue presents Cacace with another roadblock in his stop-start career.

Following a barren 2018, the Andersonstown man returned in February with a good win over Alan Castillo to secure a WBA ranking and the British title mandatory looked set to get a shot at the Lonsdale belt – and a WBO ranking – when Frank Warren, Bowen’s promoter, secured control of the mandated match-up.

Initially the clash was eyed for the big Daniel Dubois v Nathan Gorman undercard in London on July 13th but Cacace received a boost when it was moved to the Mick Conlan v Vladimir Nikitin Féile card in his home city.

With this fight now off, it was hoped that Cacace would still fight on the bill but – Irish-boxing.com can confirm that is not the case.

The bill currently features Alfredo Meli, Paddy Barnes, Sean McComb, Dee Sullivan, Padraig McCrory, Callum Bradley, and Sean Duffy – with Luke Keeler v Gabe Rosado also set to be added along with more.
