Dennis Hogan world title eliminator receives big boost

DDP Promotions are making sure it’s not a case of ‘out of sight, out of mind’ for World title hopeful Dennis Hogan.

The Kildare light middleweight is a name well known in Australia as well as to hardcore Irish fight fans, but some outside the boxing family circuit may be unaware of the ‘Hurricane’ and the fact he is fast closing in on a World title shot.

The Brisbane-based fighter has won various domestic titles Down Under as well enjoying Ocenia success. The 32-year-old also challenged for the WBA interim in Germany, losing to Jack Culcay on the road.

The Lilywhite operator has since worked his way up the WBO rankings and looks to be one victory away from a World title challenge.

Standing between Hogan and the winner of current champion Sadam Ali and former titleholder Liam Smith is Manchester’s Jimmy Kelly.

The WBO #4 and #5 meet in a world title eliminator at the Brisbane Convention Centre on Saturday April 7th and Hogan’s friend turned promoter Paul Keegan is doing all he can to ensure ‘Hurricane’ gets the full support of Ireland.

DDP Sports have revealed the event will be streamed online around the globe for free in a bid to ensure the people of Ireland get the chance to see and support a potential 2018 World champ.

Hogan’s previous fight, a decisive win over Yuki Nonaka on the first ever DDP card, was a pay-per-view stream and the Dublin promotional outfit have chosen to go one better this time.

“We  want to make this the most fan friendly boxing event we can which is why we have decided to stream it for free,” Keegan explained.

“We are paying for a full TV production so for fans tuning in you will think it is a full TV expierence.”

“Another part of it is we want Irish fight fans to tune in to see who many believe to be the next Irish World champion unless of course if [IBF super bantamweight mandatory challenger] TJ [Doheny] wins it first.

“The hardest thing for Irish fighters not in Ireland or the UK is getting buulding a profile back home. By doing this we want people who have never seen Dennis fight to tune in and see what all the hype is about.

“If you have an internet connection then you have access to this event whether that be on your phone, on your iPad, on your computer, or on your smart TV.”

“I know some pubs at home are putting it on the big screens so it should be great fun to be in Ireland for this fight.”
