Delfine Persoon gives round-by-round scoring breakdown of her fight with Katie Taylor

Six rounds to four in her favour. That’s how Delfine Persoon [43(18)-2(10] scored her undisputed clash with Katie Taylor [14(6)-0].

Two of the three scoring judges on a historic night for Irish boxing also had it six rounds to four, but in now undisputed world lightweight champion Katie Taylor’s favour – the other scoring the clash a five-five draw.

The Belgian stormed out of the ring distraught and angry when the Taylor was confirmed the winner and has continued to dispute a result which was read out in a Madison Square Garden ring on June 1.

In fairness to the former WBC world champion, who played her part in one of the most exciting fights of the year and possibly the greatest female fights of all time, there are some who agree she was hard done by.

The majority within that supporting group argue ‘robbery’ claims are too far, but believe there is a case to be made for the 34 year old winning the fight.

However, Persoon claims those that score the fight honestly can only rule in her favour.

The former long reigning champ revealed she watched the bout back of 30 times and has scored it the same way each time.

Indeed, when talking to BoxingMonthly she put on her judges uniform and gave a round by round scoring breakdown.

“The first round I think was won by Katie,” she begins. “The second and third by me, the fourth maybe Taylor, and the fifth for me. The sixth for Taylor, seven and eight for me, nine for Taylor and 10 for me.”

“If you look at the fight and are honest, that’s what you’ll see.”

Here is how each individual judge scored each individual round.

Persoon has admits her profile in a non boxing country has increased as well as her profile and standing across the world.

However, the fact 2 million people tuned in to watch her fight and the messages of support haven’t quelled her disappointment.

“Everyone here is saying the decision was not correct. I wanted to make history for Belgium, I did make history for Belgium and I didn’t get what I deserved. What I achieved was not recognised by the judges.

“People in Belgium have been saying that Katie Taylor is a paper champion. More than two million people saw the fight on Belgian TV and we only have a population of 10 million, of which four million are Flemish. That’s amazing figures.”
