Debut opponent named for ‘Lilywhite Lightning’ Eric Donovan

One of the most anticipated aniticipated debutes in recent times takes place next Saturday at the National Stadium.

Eric ‘Lilywhite Lightning’ Donovan, a former elite amateur, European medalist, and RTÉ pundit makes his professional bow on the FS Promotions/Hatton Promotions ‘The Future’ show.

31 next month, Donovan will fight initially in the super featherweight division, and it his intention to move quickly.

In his first bout he will face durable veteran Damian Lawniczak [3(0)-15(2)-1] at the familiar South Circular Road venue.

The Polish 36 year old comes into the fight on the back of a win over another debutante, Tom McGinley, at the York Hall earlier this month, and earlier this year went six rounds with hot prospect Zelfa Barrett.

Aside from a knockout loss in his debut, Lawniczak’s only other early finish came against an Irishman, with Belfast’s Eddie Nesbitt stopping him in the third round at the National Basketball Arena in 2012.
