Dalton progresses to the next round and set his sights on gold

RUAIRI Dalton emulated  Michael Conlan by booking his place in last 16 of the Commonwealth Games- and then echoed Northern Ireland team mate’s Gold sentiments immediately after his win.

Dalton beat Christopher Katanga by a unanimous 3-0 scoreline to move into the last 32 of the competition and the flyweight stressed his desire to go all the way and claim gold.

“Anything can happen, nothing surprises me in this game, but I am going for gold,” Dalton told Sports Mole when asked about the red-hot favourite Andrew Selby’s elimination against Reece McFadden earlier in the evening.

Dalton also paid tribute to the city of Glasgow when asked about the support he received during the bout.

“Glasgow is like home. Plenty of Irish here,” he added.

The Belfast fighter will now face Ezra Paul Mwanjwango in the next round on Sunday.
