Cruz promoters Golden Boy will be ringside for Frampton v Cazares

GOLDEN representatives will be ringside as Carl Frampton fights Hugo Cazares for WBC super bantamweight World title pole positions.

Frampton, revealed reigning champion Leo Santa Cruz’s promoters will be in town to watch ‘The Jackal’ fight and to progress talks that are already underway further if Frampton wins.

“Throughout the last year we’ve been in discussions with Golden Boy Promotions about fighting Santa Cruz and the communications between both parties have been very good,” Frampton told the Mirror.

“Everyone wants to get it sorted and they’re sending representatives over to Belfast to see the fight.”

Frampton’s dream is to fight for a World title in his town, but its is quite possible he might have to travel to secure world title status and settle for defending it on home turf.

The undefeated Belfast star will try and secure a fight with the undefeated Mexican world champion in his home town, but he is confident the venue will prove immaterial to the result.

“Whether or not Leo is coming (with Golden Boy), I don’t know, but he might want to back out once he hears my Belfast crowd. We haven’t ruled out fighting at a big venue like Ravenhill Stadium either. Las Vegas might be an option or maybe the east coast because a lot of Northern Irishmen live there. Wherever the fight happens though I think I’d beat him. I want Santa Cruz and I’d fight him tomorrow – one hundred per cent,” Frampton added before discussing Cruz’s last defence an March 8 points victory over Cristian Mijares.

“He basically beat him up and Mijares was just happy to see the final bell. In a world title fight you expect a fighter to change something up or show a bit more desire,” Frampton reflected.
