Crank Whitehouse looking to move to the next level on May 27th

Crank Whitehouse [5(1)-0], like the other Irish fighters scheduled to box this Saturday, was a frustrated figure on Monday afternoon.

The Balbriggan welterweight was one of 14 Irish fighters set to box on the inaugural It’s A Bout Boxing Ireland card at the National Stadium on April 1st, only to see the Boxing Union of Ireland withdraw permission for the show “due to a number of conditions not being complied with by the promoter.”

Thankfully for Whitehouse, and for the other boxers who have subsequently joined him, he had another date in the pipeline.

The Dubliner will feature prominently on the ‘Celtic Clash 2’ card at the National Stadium on Saturday May 27th.

Whitehouse, trained by David Sadleir and Tony Davitt is already in fighting shape, so it’s all a matter of keeping sharp and continuing to improve ahead of the fight date in just over two weeks time. Indeed he believes the full camp in the bag can only benefit him ahead of his next contest.

The Fingal fighter told Irish-Boxing.com that “when I heard the show [April 1st] was canceled so close to the date, it was a big blow. It was fight week and I was in a fight mood after being in camp for seven weeks. I was feeling good and in great shape.”

“[The cancellation] won’t affect me I don’t think. Everything was just going nice for the fight at the weekend. I was on weight Monday morning, everything was on point and in place to fight, so I’ll take a few days off and it will only add to my preparations for May.”

Whitehouse was in line for a nice challenge on Saturday night, but he seemed to suggest something even bigger was in the pipeline for May 27th.

“This weekend’s fight was a good test,” he revealed. “A guy 20 wins, 12 losses, and 14 KOs.”

“If all goes to plan from the other side, May 27th will be a good night, and winning will give me that kick on to better things.”

“Whoever is in front of me on May 27th, I will look to put on a good performance, look good, and move on to the next level.”

Whitehouse is joined Eric Donovan, Sean Creagh, Stephen Carroll, Lynn Harvey, and debutants Regan Buckley and John Joyce on the bumper bill, with many more still to be announced.

Tickets for Celtic Clash 2 will be priced at €15 (Under 15s), €30, €40, €45, and €55 (Premium), and will be available from the boxers involved in the near future.
