Craig O’Brien secures promotional deal and new fight date

Craig O’Brien [9(1)-1(1)] has been handed a big boost with the announcement of a promotional deal.

The Irish light middleweight champion has signed with Murphys Boxing in Boston as he embarks on the next chapter of his career.

The Dubliner will make his bow for Ken Casey and Sean Sullivan’s outfit NEXT WEEK.

O’Brien will feature on the Murphys show in the Boston suburb of Melrose on Friday March 29th.

The move comes following a 2018 in which ‘The Iron’ defeated Jay Byrne to claim the Irish 154lbs title before losing to Matchroom starlet Anthony Fowler on the Dillian Whyte v Joseph Parker PPV undercard.

O’Brien joins Celtic Warriors stablemates Spike O’Sullivan, Niall Kennedy, and Ray Moylette on the books at Murphys.

The outfit run regular cards in Massachusetts and work with all major promoters that visit Boston – most recently Matchroom for a big card at the TD Garden on the DAZN platform.

In the past Murphys have guided TJ Doheny to a world title fight, and O’Sullivan and Stephen Ormond to world title final eliminators.

O’Brien will face U.S. Virgin Islander Antonio Chaves Fernandez [9(3)-35(10)-4] in a six rounder on the card at the Melrose Memorial Hall.

The bill next week also features Greg Vendetti, Ryan Kielczweski, Mike O’Han, Luis Arcon, James Perella, and Joe Gagliardi
