IT’S ON! Contracts signed – Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg to fight next year

A fight five years in the making, Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg has finally been agreed.

The pair, along with respective promoters Eddie Hearn and Barry McGuigan this evening appeared on Sky Sports News to formally sign the contract and announce the fight.

After nearly nine months of negotiation, the super bantamweight duo will finally meet on February 27th at the Manchester Arena live on Sky SPorts in what will presumably be a PPV affair.

IBF champion Frampton was excited with the news, exclaimingthat “I’m over the moon!”

Quigg even began the fighting talk, claiming that “I respect Carl, but on February 27th I’m going to take his head off.”

Frampton however retorted that “He’s gonna try but it’s not gonna happen.”

Matchroom Chief, Hearn, feels that the fight has the potential to be one of the biggest in recent history, noting that “Froch-Groves captivated people in this country, this fight captivates people around the world.”

Cyclone Promotions head honcho McGuigan was similarly excited, explaining that “I am delighted that the fans are gonna see these two guys go at it on February 27th.”

It almost has to be seen to be believed.

Ticket details will be released later this month – although we doubt there will be much selling needed for this fight.
