Conor McGregor won’t box again says Dana White

Conor McGregor [0-1(1)] may have to be removed from the Irish-Boxing.com rankings after Dana White moved to insist he will not box again.

The former Crumlin amateur is ranked as the sixth best light middleweight in the country by this site, eighth by BoxRec.com, and is unranked by the Boxing Union of Ireland.

McGregor made more than 100 million when he crossed codes and fought Floyd Mayweather earlier this year in Las Vegas.

The what’s next question has been on everyone’s lips since that knockout loss in August and the two weight UFC World champ has been linked to potential boxing matches with the likes of Paulie Malignaggi and, more recently, Manny Pacquiao.

However, not long after he claimed he would sue the Pac Man if he opened talks with the MMA star, The UFC boss has claimed the Dubliner isn’t returning to boxing.

Responding to questions about rumoured negotiations between Pac Man and McGregor with regard to an April fight White claimed

“That would be weird, because [Conor’s] under contract with us. If that’s true, I will be suing Manny Pacquiao and whoever’s representing him. So, I’m assuming that’s not true”

News McGregor’s professional boxing debut managed a massive 4.3 million pay-per-view purchases in the US alone – second all-time behind Mayweather v Pacquiao – means that speculation won’t go away easily.

However, White has once again quashed speculation that McGregor would opt to switch to boxing, this time taking to social media to respond to fans, stating that “he’s not boxing anyone so calm down cry babies.”
