CONFIRMED – Carl Frampton signs with Top Rank for “American Adventure”

It has been confirmed this evening that Carl Frampton [26(15)-2(0)] has signed a promotional deal with Top Rank.

The Belfast featherweight will remain promoted by Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions and the U.S. giant have come onboard in a co-promotional capacity.

It was reported during the week that Frampton would follow a path taken by promotional and managerial stablemate Tyson Fury and link up with Bob Arum’s outfit, with the move being officially confirmed today.

The deal sees Frampton become a stablemate of current WBO champ and target Oscar Valdez as well as solidifying him a spot on the Top Rank-aligned ESPN.

“It’s wonderful news that Carl Frampton has joined us at Top Rank,” said Top Rank chairman Arum.

“He is the epitome of a true warrior, and we are proud to be promoting him as he works toward becoming the featherweight champion of the world once again.”

Warren, who is aligned with BT Sport in the UK, has had an increasingly intense relationship with Top Rank in recent months with plenty of cross-pollination between stables and cards.

While it is unconfirmed, the veteran English promoter seemed to suggest that Frampton’s future now lies solely in America.

Warren said that “I’m delighted that we’ve reached an agreement with Top Rank to co-promote Carl.”

“The enormous platform offered by ESPN in the USA is the perfect place for Carl to showcase he still has everything to offer at the top level. We fully share Carl’s belief that he can become a world champion again.”

“UK fans can look forward to watching every step of Carl’s American adventure live on BT Sport.”

Frampton is managed by Johnney Roye under the MTK Global banner and Jamie Conlan, the outfit’s Professional Development Manager, said that “Carl Frampton is one of the most gifted boxers the island of Ireland has ever produced and now he’s has linked up with Top Rank, one of the best promotional companies in the game.”

“This partnership will give Carl fantastic opportunities to showcase his talents on the international stage as well as strengthen his quest to become world champion again.”

Frampton is currently in New York for the big Mick Conlan St Patrick’s Day card at The Theater at Madison Square Garden.

‘The Jackal’ is ticking over ahead of a return to the ring in the late summer.
