MEDAL ALERT: Colm Murphy guarantees brilliant bronze in the Bahamas

Colm Murphy guaranteed a sensational bronze at the Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas tonight.

The St George’s bantam, who was only added to the team following the withdrawal of light welter Aaron McKenna, will now bring home a medal after a quarter final win in the Caribbean.

Murphy had scored a brilliant win over Scotland’s Ahmed Faraz last night and followed it up with another unanimous decision win over Canadian Sean Finnigan here.

Finnigan was the physically larger boxer, and tried to impose himself on the Belfast teen, but Murphy landed with the cleaner punches to take a deserved win.

With bronze in the bag, Murphy will now look to upgrade to silver on Saturday.

Earlier this evening John Moran guaranteed light flyweight bronze, while middleweight Kane Tucker will be also looking to bag a medal when he steps through the ropes later tonight.
