Chris Blaney back with bang – No extended rebuild
Chris Blaney [10(3)-1(0)] says he will be ready for all comers once he successfully returns from injury this weekend.
The ‘Ginja Ninja’ fights for the first time in 11 months and since his Ireland’s Last Man Standing semi-final exit on the BCB Promotions’ ‘No Love Lost’ show at Walsall Town Hall this coming Saturday [February 16th].
An eye injury and operation slowed some of the momentum the Navan middleweight was building since turning over in 2016 but the Ricky Hatton-trained prospect is back and, once Saturday is done, is ready jump straight back into the domestic mix.
Blaney has been vocal of late about wanting to fight the likes of Thomas Finnegan and JJ McDonagh as well as wanting to challenge for the Irish title.
However, the BUI Celtic title winner initially felt he may be best served getting two fights under his belt before agreeing to possible domestics.
Yet, the Manchester-based Meath man has the bit between his teeth and claims he will be ready for all comers once Saturday is done.
“Whatever fights come up whether thery’e domestic or not I’ll take them,” he told Irish-Boxing.com before commenting on his camp.
“Camp has gone great. I feel great and can’t wait to get back into it.”
Blaney has had to watch from ringside for up almost a year and admits it has been frustrating.
However, the nature of the injury meant he was still able to train to some degree and points out being around the gym proved great solace.
He also claims it gave him time to work on specific things, some of which he predicts will be noticable on his return.
Blaney outlined how “it’s been very hard but it has been great to be able to still keep training alongside the lads in the gym.”
“Myself and the team have been working on a lot new things and I’m looking forward to putting them to use this Saturday night,” he continues before assuring he has no longer has issue with his eye.
“My eye has been perfect. I’ve had no trouble sparring with it.”
