Chemistry Cup Day 2 results: O’Reilly and Gardiner bow out to English opposition
Michael O’Reilly and Dean Gardiner produced fine quarter-finals performances against English opponents at the 41st Chemistry Cup in Halle, Germany today.
But both boxers bowed out to Anthony Fowler and Joe Joyce; O’Reilly was particularly unlucky not to reach the semi-finals.
Chris Phelan also exited the tournament at the last-eight phase this afternoon, the Ryston BC flyweight going out to Germany’s Ronny Beblik.
Earlier today, Hugh Myers, Kurt Walker and Gary Sweeney lost their quarter-final contests in Halle.
Walker was edged out on a split decision by Dutch bantam  Enrico la Cruz and Myers and Sweeney dropped unanimous decision to Kazakh light-fly Temirtas Zhussupov and German heavyweight Ablon Pervizj.
