‘Chances like this don’t come around often’ – Moran ready for life changing fight

Dylan Moran [10(5)-0] is ready to grab a life-changing opportunity with both gloved hands.

The welterweight prospect, who penned an agreement with notable American promoter Joe DeGuardia and joined the New York based Star Boxing stable back in February, will finally make his American debut inUpstate New York on Friday June 28th.

It’s a big chance for the 24-year-old to impress outside of Ireland and open doors in America.

In fact the Waterford fighter believes a good performance can leave such an impression that it changes his career and indeed his life for ever.

“My attitude is good performances over there  can change my life,” Moran told Irish-boxing.com before all but promising that ‘performance’.

“The American fans can expect an exciting fight. I know how big of an opportunity this and I’m ready to make the most of it. Chances like this don’t come around that often.”

Moran has appeared on TG4 at home, has been backed to top a sell-out show in his native county and is part of an exciting Irish welterweight mix, but if he does make DeGuardia sit up and take note at the tail end of this month he may end up fighting more regularly abroad.

“Who knows when I get over here and sit and talk with these people and decide what road we are going maybe a move to America might be best for all involved. I’m not going to get ahead of myself it’s one fight at a time can think about that stuff afterwards,” he adds before throwing in some more sensible talk.

“Like I said, one fight at a time I don’t like to get ahead of myself, but in saying that I do realize that good performances over here can lead to some big nights in the States, which is the dream for any fighter . I’m really excited!.”

Moran was first meant to fight in America on a DAZN show on March 9th and is delighted to finally have a date set in stone for his Stateside debut.

“I’m delighted it’s been confirmed there’s nothing worse then not knowing whether something is happening or not. It’s signed sealed and delivered now, so happy days we have something to focus on and get ready for.”

“Camps been going good. It’s had it’s ups and downs as always but there’s no excuses You just have to make it happen. It’s  two more weeks of hard work to go and that’s a wrap I’ll be ready.”

When speaking to Irish-boxing.com upon signing the Kilmacthomas man DeGuardia was open about wanting to test the Déise man’s credentials from the off.

Moran is aware that means his American debut will be anything but a gimme.

“I haven’t heard much on the opponent, but I know these guys are going to want to see  what I’m about. It’s not going to be and easy nights work but I’m looking forward to it the better the opponent the better Dylan Moran.”
