Celtic Clash 9 – CONFIRMED

The popular Celtic Clash series will return to Belfast for its second successive show this Autumn.

Irish-Boxing.com can confirm that the ninth edition of Ireland’s premier domestic fight series will take place on Saturday October 12th at the Devenish Complex in the West of the city.

Again, Divis lightweight Joe Fitzpatrick [9(6)-0] will top the Boxing Ireland Promotions bill following his stunning stoppage of local rival Stephen Webb back in May and ‘The Dragon’ will fight for his first professional belt.

Fitzpatrick will take on tough Spaniard Iago Barros [5(2)-15(2)-2] for the BUI Celtic lightweight title in a top-of-the-bill clash.

From the Celtic region of Galicia, Barros will be familiar to Irish fans for his war with Martin Quinn back in December 2017.

An away fighter with a misleading record, the grizzled 36-year-old has caused his fair share of shocks over the years and will look to fight rather than survive despite Fitzpatrick’s pedigree and amateur history.

Fitzpatrick, the jewel of Boxing Ireland’s Ulster stable, is looking to progress up the ladder and has belts such as the BUI Celtic, Irish, BBBoC Celtic, British and beyond in his sights and October 12th represents the first step.

The undercard for the night will be confirmed in due course but it is understood that there will be a number of all-Irish contests on the card with fighters from around the island.

It ensures a massive weekend for boxing for the Titanic City, with the Ulster Hall playing host to a big card the night previous. Here Paddy Barnes will take on European flyweight champion Jay Harris in a major crossroads clash.
