New ‘Celtic Clash’ show announced for Dublin

Another new pro show has been announced as Irish boxing’s insanely strong start to 2018 continues.

This evening a seventh bill of the year has been announced, the third card set for Dublin so far.

On Saturday March 24th at Good Counsel GAA club in Drimnagh, Boxing Ireland Promotions and Tony Davitt Promotions will run their first show of the year – ‘Celtic Clash 5‘.

The card will be the fourth ran by the partnership since their respective re-entries to the scene last May and their first show outside the confines of the National Stadium

The clubhouse venue has yet to have been used for professional boxing, however it has hosted mixed martial arts events in the past

Intended as an eight-fight small hall bill, three boxers are currently confirmed.

Davitt’s Ballbrack lightweight Niall O’Connor [2(1)-0] will look to build on his impressive start to pro life, while his fellow red-haired lightweight Martin Quinn [2(1)-0] of Crumlin will be aiming to do similar. Both Dubliners are set for four-round.

Also appearing in a six-round contest will be Sallynoggin super featherweight Stephen McAfee [2(2)-0-1]. The big-hitter, like O’Connor and Quinn, was last in action on Celtic Clash 4 last month.

Here he was involved in a Fight of the Year contender against Cork boxer Colin O’Donovan which ended in a bloody draw.

Ticket details and further undercard announcements are expected in the near future.

The show joins a packed schedule which features SK Promotions and MHD Promotions both on February 3rd, ‘Danger at The Devenish 3’ on February 10th, the inaugural Ring Kings bill on February 17th, Ireland’s Last Man Standing on March 3rd, and the big Frampton v Donaire card on April 21st.
