Casey warning for Kiko

21 October 2010

Willie Casey has issued a chilling warning to La Sensation, Kiko Martinez ahead of their clash in the City of Limerick on November 6. Be ready for all out war when you step into that ring.

With just over two weeks to go until his showdown with Spanish sensation Kiko Martinez, Willie Casey contemplates his chances of toppling the European Champion in is his hometown of Limerick.

Everything is in place now; I finished my last sparring session yesterday getting in 12 rounds with Stephen Ormond and Paul Griffin. Its been a long journey but Im focused and ready to take that title.

Having jumped ship to Dublin for the duration of his training leaving behind his wife and four young children, the Limerick southpaw admits the last few months have been difficult.

Its been very tough being away from my family for this long but I know when I lift that belt it will make it all worth while. Im very proud of my wife and my kids and how they have supported me through this time. I am determined to do it not just for them but for the whole of Limerick.

Casey fully accepts the threat Kiko poses and will be taking nothing for granted inside the ring. We have left no stone unturned for this one, Phil (Sutcliffe) has prepared me for every possibility – but we will have our own tactics too. If this man thinks hes going to walk out of my city with that belt still around his waist he has another thing coming hes in for one hell of a fight.

As Mick Dowling put it, this is possibly going to be one of the greatest fights held in Ireland- and I hope to back up that claim by putting in the performance of my life. For those who saw me against Emiliano Salvini saw a different dimension to my game, for those going to this fight are going to see a totally different Willie Casey again. I am the sharpest Ive ever been, Im punching harder then I have ever punched and when that bell rings Kikos going to fight the hardest fight hes ever fought. This is why I turned pro, fights like this are what its all about, and I aim to grab this chance with both hands and when I win that belt its going to stay in Limerick for a long time you can be sure of that!

When asked what his message to Kiko is the likeable Limerick man replied Be ready for all out war when you step into that ring.

The whole of Limerick is buzzing and I have been flooded with good luck messages and kind words so I want to thank everyone for their support, it means a lot to me.
