Carl Frampton vows to punish “very disrespectful” Luke Jackson

Carl Frampton says he will punish Luke Jackson [16(7)-0] for disrespecting him when the pair meet on August 18th.

The Australian was officially unveiled as the former two-weight and unified world champion’s Windsor Park opponent this week in Belfast and came face to face with ‘The Jackal’ for the first time at a press conference at the stadium.

The Tasmanian did point out he respects the fighter he will try and take the WBO interim title from later this Summer but did express a belief that the former WBA featherweight world title holder was good rather than special.

31-year-old Frampton [25(14)-1(0)] took exception to the comments and some of the things his management said and has promised retribution.

In fact Frampton believes 2012 Olympian Jackson has got it wrong the wrong way around and will suffer the same fate as his fellow Aussie Mark Quon – who was also managed by the outspoken Adam Wilcock.

“I think the management were a little bit disrespectful. They were over here before when I fought on an Eddie Hearn show, I fought a guy Mark Quon and he was saying the same sort of stuff. [Quon] got fixed in four rounds,” Frampton recalled to IFL TV.

“I think Jackson saying I am ‘okay’ and nothing special is very disrespectful. He will find out on the night that I am a much better fighter than him.”

“That is how I would describe him, okay, solid, good enough but nothing special. I was Ring Magazine Fighter of the Year, American Boxing Writers Fighter of the Year, two-weight world champion, unified champion. I think I done alright and he will find out on the night I am better than he thinks,” Frampton continued.

Frank Warren has confirmed regardless of the lay of the world title land and Oscar Valdez’s fitness Frampton and IBF world champ Josh Warrington will fight before the year is out.

Frampton is delighted with the chance to become a world champion again and claims it’s a chance he will definitely take as the Leeds native is made for him.

“I win that [Warrington] fight,” outlined Frampton.

“I think he is made for me. He is a good fighter, but I think he is made for me. I win that fight and I go into 2019 with a world title and then you can start talking about Leo Santa Cruz again and unifying and things like that. Luke Jackson I have to beat this guy and do a good job on him.
