Carl Frampton v Luke Jackson given major U.S. TV boost

Carl Frampton‘s massive Windsor Park fight night will be shown live on American television.

It has been confirmed today that the Belfast featherweight’s clash with Luke Jackson will be shown on U.S. premium cable channel Showtime Sports.

On this side of the Atlantic the bout will be aired on BT Sport and now the potential reach for the bout has been increased exponentially.

While Frampton’s next fight, assuming he defeats Jackson, is almost certain to be a showdown with IBF champ Josh Warrington in Manchester, ‘The Jackal’ remains an extremely relevant name Stateside.

The Tiger’s Bay 31-year-old has already shared two brilliant fights with WBA champ Leo Santa Cruz while Gary Russell Jr holds the WBC title. All three are advised by Al Haymon and regularly appear on Showtime.

Frampton’s fight next week sees him defend his WBO interim title and look to remain top of the queue for injured champion Oscar Valdez – who is promoted by Top Rank and fights mainly on the ESPN network.

The stadium card next week also features the continued comeback of former unified heavyweight champ Tyson Fury. The Manchester man-mountain faces former title challenger Francesco Pianeta in a clash which, should negotiations come to fruition, could be a lead-in to a title fight with American star Deontay Wilder.

Wilder, another Haymon fighter, is set to be in Belfast for the card to provide punditry.

It is not clear how many fights will be shown on the U.S. broadcast, with just the Frampton and Fury bouts being mentioned on the press release but it is hoped that Paddy Barnes’s WBC title fight with flyweight champion Cristofer Rosales is included.

Indeed, hopefully a handful of Luke Keeler, Marco McCullough, Conrad Cummings, Lewis Crocker, and the Steven Ward v Stevie Collins BUI Celtic title fight will be shown on American screens.
