Carl Frampton outlines mouthwatering three-fight wish list

They are mouthwatering and certainly all possible.

Carl Frampton has a three fight wish list that will excite fight fans.

‘The Jackal’ is currently preparing for his first fight since defeat to Josh Warrington in December.

The Belfast fight takes on Emmanuel Dominguez on Saturday, August 10 in Philidelphia and is currently in America preparing for the clash.

Secure victory in his first bout this year and the 32-year-old looks likely to be handed the chance to regain world champion status.

A fight with WBO featherweight champion and new stablemate Oscar Valdez has been promised by promoters Top Rank and looks likely to play out in December.

That fight would be part one of a three perfect fight run for the one of Ireland’s most successful and admired operators.

When asked by BT Sport about the three fights he would like before retiring he listed Valdez, Josh Warrington, and Leo Santa Cruz.

Unlike most fight wish lists, Frampton’s appears extremely achievable. Valdez looks a certainty if Domingues can be navigated successfully and he has fought both Warrington and Leo Santa Cruz in the past. Indeed, he has been linked to rematches with both since.

A Warrington return looks the easier to make. The pair work closely with Frank Warren and a unification clash would appeal. IBF world title holder Warrington is looking to fight WBA title holder Santa Cruz in a bid to unify and break America.

If Frampton wins his next two fights taking on the winner of that fight -if it was made – would certainly be a target.

The Belfast fighter also has Santa Cruz previous having beaten the PBC fighter to become two weight world champion before losing a rematch. The rubber match has been mentioned and explored, but has yet to materialise.

When asked with regard to the three fights he would like before retiring Frampton first joked about Anthony Joshua, Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather before getting serious.

“Valdez, Warrington, Santa Cruz, imagine them fights. The Valdez fight can happen. We are both with Top Rank and he is a world champion. If I win that fight then I am a world champion. Imagine the trilogy decider with Santa Cruz and a unification. Imagine a rematch and a unification with Warrington. Imagine a rematch with Valdez they are all huge fights.”

If he was to defeat all three of the fighters mentioned, that would leave Frampton one win away from being an undisputed champion – which may see the inactive and avoided WBC titlist Gary Russell Jr come into the picture. Another massive clash.
