Carl Frampton mocks farcical Amir Khan press conference

This afternoon Amir Khan came face-to-face with upcoming opponent Phil Lo Greco for the first time.

The former WBA-IBF light welterweight champion returns to the ring for the first time in two years on Saturday April 21st at the Echo Arena, live on Sky Sports.

As expected, Khan has been matched with a below-World level opponent in the Lo Greco – however there were still hostilities at today’s opening press conference.

The Canadian visitor apparently riled Khan with verbal barbs about the Bolton fighter’s family.

Khan responded angrily and threw a glass of water in Lo Greco’s face.

The antics were criticised online by many, who felt it was a PR stunt to hype a seemingly one-sided fight.

Belfast featherweight Carl Frampton had something to say, and responded to the press conference scuffle with a contrasting photo from his own most recent presser.

‘The Jackal’ faces Filipino four-weight world champion Nonito Donaire on the same night [April 21st] at the SSE Odyssey Arena, live on BT Sport and BoxNation.

The scheduling clash between the two broadcasters has been lamented by fans, while Frampton’s promoter Frank Warren has criticised Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn for choosing to put on Khan-Lo Greco on the same night as Frampton-Donaire.

Frampton has previously addressed the clash, noting how he felt his fight, along with the undercard of all-Irish fights, would offer superior entertainment and better ratings.
