Who can swim with The Croc? – Coach Ginley blown away by Lewis Crocker

Coach Ray Ginley was left wondering if anyone can cope with the power of Lewis Crocker after his blow out win on the Michael Conlan Homecoming undercard.

Light middleweight Adam Grabiec was drafted in to give the 21-year-old knockout specialist rounds but the Pole lasted just over a minute as the hot Belfast prospect ended another fight early with a crunching body shot.

The stoppage – Crocker’s sixth from six – and the manner in which it came about, sees the welterweight trump some bigger and more experienced fighters in terms the speed in which he took the journeyman out.

“That’s six wins and six knockouts which is incredible. You wonder who is going to be able to take that kind of power,” Ginley told Belfast Live after the win which played out at the SSE Odyssey Arena.

“Saturday was supposed to be a bigger test, against a bigger opponent. But Lewis just dispatched him like the rest.

“It was probably his quickest win as well at little over a minute. Scary.”

Having gone the distance with Irish champions Dee Walsh and Peter McDonagh and having taken noted middleweight puncher Mark Heffron four in the fight preceding Crocker, the young coach was expecting a tougher night for the exciting Sandy Row talent.

However, even he was left surprised and impressed by devastating stoppage.

“It was another devastating performance from Lewis. I thought we were going to have a long night against Grabiec,” Ginley added.

“It took Mark Heffron four rounds to stop Grabiec, and Heffron is on the cusp of world titles. And he’s a middleweight. Lewis went out there and nearly stopped Grabiec with the first shot he threw. He just looked so comfortable in there.”

The welterweight banger is out again on August 18th on the Carl Frampton Windsor Park undercard, his third fight in less than four months.

It’s an increase in activity levels for ‘The Croc’ and Ginley is adamant the right path is being followed.

The former super middleweight pro is confident big fights will come at the right time for the KO king and outlined how “he has got such an exciting future ahead of him. I can’t wait to watch him develop and progress.

“We will just keep turning up and Lewis will keep doing the business.”
