Busy Luke Wilton wants impressive performance to force title chance

The win is paramount for a busy Luke Wilton [19(7)-5(1)-1] – but looking good also counts for a fighter looking for one last title push.

After fighting just three times in three years, ‘Winky’ goes trades leather for the third time in three months at the Ulster Hall tomorrow night.

Having got the hunger for the sport back and returning from an 18 month lay off on the Back In Belfast card last November, the 30- year-old keeps up his busy run on the ‘A Night To Remember’ card following a short-notice outing in Scotland two weeks ago.

It’s possibly the busiest the super flyweight has been since he turned over back all the way back in 2008 and he claims he can see the benefits of regular rounds and back to back to back camps.

“It’s been a while since had three fights in just four months. I can see the difference in fitness and all that with having two fights in couple weeks. That is what I wanted coming back, I want to be as busy as I can,” Wilton told Irish-Boxing.com.

Upon returning, the former British title challenger revealed he wanted another crack and domestic level.

With that in mind, he has to get a couple of wins under his belt, but feels he has to get his name back out there by continuing to catch the eye with his performances.

The win tomorrow is the main thing, but there is an element of Wilton that wants to do it in style.

“It all comes down to getting the win whatever way is possible and continuing to look good in doing so,” he stated

Wilton’s opponent on the MHD Promotions card is Patrik Bartos who he will face over six rounds.

The Czech Republic fighter, who has campaigned as high as super bantamweight has 14 wins, 12 of which are knockouts, but has never won outside his homeland, losing 18 times on the road.

Wilton reveals he goes into the bout blind in terms of what his opponent can do, but claims he is ready to impress regardless.

“I’m not to sure what he brings,” he added.

“I’ve not seen much on him so I will see how it goes in first couple rounds and adapt,” reasoned the Eastside fighter.
