BUI Celtic title fight added to next Dublin show

Fight news is filtering through for the next card of professional boxing in Dublin.

‘Celtic Clash 6’ takes place in Drimnagh at Good Counsel GAA club on Saturday June 16th and a BUI Celtic title fight will feature on the bill.

Following a heroic performance last month in a rematch with Stephen McAfee where he was edged out on a split-decision for the BUI Celtic super featherweight title, Cork’s Colin O’Donovan [1(1)-2(1)-1] will return and drops two weights to take on Tallaght’s Carl McDonald [3(0)-1(0)] for the inaugural BUI Celtic super bantamweight belt.

Both fighters featured on ‘Celtic Clash 5’ at the same venue, with O’Donovan rematching McAfee while McDonald made his return from a spell out with a four-round win over Trayan Slavev.

The Hungarian is a common opponent and was stopped in the third round by O’Donovan on his debut back in September on ‘Celtic Clash 3’. The co-headliner at the National Stadium that night was McDonald – who lost a six-round grudge-match with Regan Buckley.

The pair both enter the fight with losing (and an additional draw in O’Donovan’s case) all-Irish previous and will be looking to score a domestic win in their more natural weight category.

There were also a number of undercard fighters confirmed for the bill tonight, with Limerick light middle Graham McCormack O’Shea [2(0)-0], Lucan welter John Joyce [5(3)-0], East Wall light welter Jake Hanney [5(4)-1(1)], and BUI Celtic featherweight champion Eric Donovan [7(4)-0] all set to feature – and many more still to be announced.
