Billy Stuart predicting stylish win over Dylan McDonagh in first step-up

Billy Stuart [7(2)-0] is predicting a ‘stylish win’ after finally being let off the leash.

The Scottish 21-year-old fights Tallaght’s Dylan McDonagh [3(1)-2(0)] for the vacant BUI Celtic super bantamweight title on a Aberdeen-hosted show that also sees Keane McMahon and Dean Sutherland fight for the welterweight version of the strap.

Stuart claims it’s just the kind of opponent and prize he has been long since calling for and is delighted to finally get the chance to show what he is about on the Kynoch Boxing show.

The Macduff native and Jobtown’s McDonagh have contrasting records. Stuart comes into the fight without a blemish on his slate, but has yet to fight an opponent with a winning record, while 33-year-old opponent comes into the clash on the back of two defeats, yet those reverse have come in a close enough late notice fight with Matchroom starlet Sean McGoldrick and a tense and tight Irish title fight with Carl McDonald.

It seems youngster Stuart wanted bigger tests earlier only for his management team to suggest he had time to do some learning. He gets his chance to show his wares now and not only is he delighted, but is extremely confident.

“It’s not that I have been holding back, it’s that I have been held back a bit. I have been wanting to go out and fight the top guys out there,” he told Irish-Boxing.com before giving a straight to the point prediction.

“I am going to produce a stylish win.”

The title aspect to proceedings has really excited ‘The Butcher’ and believes coming out on top at the Treetop Hotel this weekend will launch him toward bigger fights.

“I am over the moon to get the chance to pick up my first title. The plan is to win this and move on to bigger things.”

“A win will help me push on and get the big fights,” he adds before admitting he doesn’t know too much about the recent Irish title challenger.

“I haven’t heard too much about him. I reckon he will come and have a go,” he said of Firecracker McDonagh who has taken the opportunity of a super bantamweight title fight rather than moving down to bantam or super fly as had been expected in the wake of his McDonald defeat.
