Big Sexy not looking to land Hayemaker on former Haye opponent

When you carry the kind of power that Sean Turner does, you can generally make your own luck in the ring.

Out of the ring, however, ‘Big Sexy’ feels he hasn’t been the most fortunate over the last 12 months.

By the end of 2015 the Dublin heavyweight had pushed his record to 7(5)-0 with his third first round stoppage, and looked primed to progress to the next level. A few fight cancellations early in the year slowed down that progression, throw in a somewhat self-inflicted no contest in May and the former Senior champion hasn’t added to his win column since.

In fact, since this time last year, the former WSB puncher has only got two and half rounds in.

The 25 year old faces former David Haye foe Valeri Semiskur [18(10)-30(23)-1] in Spain this week, but rather than want to outdo the ‘Hayemaker’ and register a quick fire stoppage, he is almost praying for some ‘much needed rounds’ before catching a bit of luck and stringing a run of fights together before the year is out.

“I have had very little rounds over the last few years, basically two since last November. I hope this lad can give me some much needed rounds and I hope it’s an entertaining fight for those there,” ‘Big Sexy’ told Irish-boxing.com before discussing the short term plans.

“I know I haven’t had fights, but I have been sparring and in the gym all the time. I really need a bit of luck now and a run of fights. I have to get this one out of the way as usual, but my team have good plans for me for the rest of the year.

“I should take a step up, but again I’ll deal with this one first. ”

With his punching power ‘Big Sexy’ knows he may not get what he wishes for in terms of rounds and he does predict a comfortable night’s work come Saturday.

“It should be handy enough. I don’t know too much about my opponent, but I trained hard and I had good sparring.”
