Big Sexy secures big rematch


Sean Turner [10(7)-1(0)] will get the chance for immediate revenge next month.

‘Big Sexy’ lost his unbeaten record in April, being narrowly outpointed over eight rounds (75-77) by game Polish journeyman Kamil Sokolowski.

The Dublin heavyweight returns on the second Ginley Promotions show, ‘Danger at The Devenish,’ on Saturday September 16th at the Devenish Complex in West Belfast.

His opponent here will be Sokolowski [4(1)-10(2)-2] once again, offering the opportunity for quick redemption and an chance to move back into the frame for an Irish title fight with Con Sheehan.

The Plymouth-based Pole has fought once since their meeting in April, a competitive six-round loss to Tom Little. He was also called upon for an exhibition bout with upcoming world title challenger Hughie Fury last month in London.

The rematch will once again take place over eight rounds.

The Shankill big man trains at Taylor Made Gym under Pete Taylor alongside lightweights Gary Cully and Davey Oliver Joyce – both of whom are also in action on the Finaghy Road.

In addition to the Bray-based trio, the card next month also features Stevie Collins, Steven Ward, Anto Upton, Marco McCullough, and is headlined by Tyrone McCullagh and Tyrone McKenna.

Tickets costing £35/€40 and £65/€75 are available from the boxers involved.
