Betting Odds on Mick Conlan’s Olympic Quarter Final

Top Pro Gif Ad
Mick Conlan will enter his Olympic quarter final this afternoon as a hot favourite.

The Belfast bantamweight is Ireland’s last hope of a boxing medal at the Rio Games, and if Conlan wins today he will guarantee at least bronze, which would be his second Olympic medal.

Standing in his way is 26 year old Russian Vladimir Nikitin, whom has beaten Conlan previously in a close fight at the 2013 World Championships in Kazakhstan.

Nikitin is quite fortunate to have found himself at the stage of the Games, following a disputed win over Thai fighter Chatchai Butdee in his Last 16 bout.

Regardless, the prices for today’s fight paint a very misleading picture about what will be an immensely tough challenge for Conlan.

Best odds on Conlan emerging victorious today are a prohibitive 1/6 with bet365.

The best price on Nikitin winning, legitimately or otherwise, come at a very wide 9/2 from Paddy Power.

New bookmaker BetStars offer the best price on Conlan winning gold at 11/4, with the majority of other bookies at 5/2 and 9/4.

Today’s fight will take place during the morning session in Pavilion 6 of the Riocentro, with Conlan due to enter the ring at 15:30 Irish time.
