Bellew and Froch bring Katie Taylor pub style debate to the TV screens

The disagreement had by Sky pundits Tony Bellew and Carl Froch more or less summed up the twitter and pub debates doing the rounds late early Sunday morning.

The former world champions had opposing views on the Katie Taylor versus Delfine Persoon result just like other pundits, respected commentators and fans across the world.

Froch, who Persoon was compared to by Eddie Hearn in the build up, was a bit dramatic and called the 95-95, 96-94, 96-94 scorecard a robbery.

In fact the former super middleweight of note was emphatic in his belief that the Belgian should have left the ring with all five belts.

However, typical to the majority defending the now undisputed champion, Bellew argued ‘robbery’ was to harsh a term.

‘The Bomber’ agree their was an genuine argument for Persoon but took the Taylor won a close fight approach over the Police officer was robbed line.

Bellew admitted Taylor didn’t stick to the correct game plan and pointed out there was massive room for improvement, but did think she may have done enough to win.

“Katie was under relentless pressure from Persoon, from round one to round 10. She got hit with too many shots.

“[Taylor] got dragged into a dog-fight and, for me, she lost that fight. Persoon was robbed of victory this evening. She did enough to get the victory,” the Cobra explained.

Bellew tried to be more logical in his analysis and certainly wasn’t happy with the use of the word robbery to describe the result after an enthralling 10 rounds.

“Katie got tired,” he said, “Persoon won the second half of the fight very well but, for me, Katie Taylor won the first half very well.”

“Just watch the fight! She hasn’t won clearly. This hasn’t been a daylight robbery. It’s been a close fight.”
