Belfast boxers bag wins in Bellshill

Luke Wilton and Tony Nellins got their 2019 off to winning starts last night in Scotland.

The Belfast pair were in action on a Prospect Boxing card in Bellshill, both winning on points.

It was four-round keep-busy affairs for the two on the Burns Night dinner show at the Hilton Hotel and they would get the job done with minimal fuss to add another win to the record.

Super flyweight Wilton was a late addition to the bill, taking the fight at just a few days notice, and he outpointed the winless Steven Maguire 40-36 to move to 19(7)-5(1)-1.

Wilton will look to claim his twentieth win soon as he will also box on the MHD Promotions ‘A Night To Remember’ bill at the Ulster Hall on Saturday February 9th where he will box Czech Patrik Bartos over six rounds.

It was actually an all-Belfast fight for welterweight Nellins who took on stablemate Alec Bazza and would coast to a 40-36 win and move to 5(0)-0-1.

Nellins is keen to kick on in 2019 towards the BUI Celtic and Irish titles and could be involved in some big domestic clashes in the coming months either in Belfast or Dublin.
