Banana skin opponent named for King Kong Carroll

Jono Carroll [9(1)-0] will have to be switched on this Saturday night at the Manchester Arena.

‘King Kong’ fights on the Anthony Crolla-Ismael Barroso World title undercard, and has been handed a tricky opponent.

Carroll faces 20 year old Jordan Ellison [5(1)-3(0)], a boxer known for taking scalps against prospects, over six rounds on the Matchroom card.

This year Ellison has defeated up-and-comers Ediz Hussein [then 6(0)-0-1], Louis Fielding [then 6(1)-1(0)], and Chris Conwell [then 7(1)-0]. The Sunderland boxer also has Irish previous having beaten Ben Mulligan on his debut.

Super featherweight southpaw Carroll will most likely be subject to a size disadvantage on the night against the 5’9″ lightweight Ellison – although such a size difference didn’t effect the Finglas man when he won Prizefighter lightweights in 2014.
