Askin feels experience will decide McCarthy bout – predicts KO win
Matty Askin [20(13)-3(1)] has predicted a knockout win when he faces Tommy McCarthy in a British cruiserweight title eliminator next month.
The two face off at the Bolton Whites Hotel on October 22nd, and English champion Askin feels that “experience will be a big factor” that will see him emerge victorious over Belfast’s McCarthy [9(5)-0].
27 year old Askin spoke to VIPBoxing and predicted a victory, and revealed that he believes McCarthy is “not going to be sharp enough, or busy enough, to keep up with me, I think that will be a massive factor.”
“I think he’ll get knocked out.”
The Blackpool-based fighter also somewhat dismissed the punching power of McCarthy, reasoning how he has not stopped any of his last four opponents. Askins mused how “now that he’s moved up [in class] he’s not stopping as many.”
